Witness Jim Mauer stated he saw the boat hit a concrete pylon marking the forest funnel. He said he leaped inside a boat and pulled three hurt individuals from the forest. WXOW-TV reports that others at nearby Wildcat Park and Landing also leaped in motorboats to help the hurt before first responders showed up. The hurt were come to hospitals in La Crosse.
