Mudslide-stricken California town is all but emptied out as residents ordered to leave – Chicago Tribune

But Monroe said it was stressful after evacuating three times during the wildfire to be packing up a fourth time and looking at spending up to $3,000 a week for a hotel.

Even those who didn’t lose their homes in the disaster that left at least 18 people dead were told to leave for up to two weeks so they wouldn’t interfere with the rescue and recovery operation.

Cia Monroe said her family was lucky their home wasn’t ruined and they were all healthy and safe, though her daughter lost one of her best friends.

On Thursday, Brown expanded what was known as the public safety exclusion zone to incorporate most of the town. That meant that even those who had stayed behind would have to leave and those who entered the zone would be subject to arrest.

“Where do you go when you’re a family of four and you don’t have a second house?” Monroe asked, noting that some residents of the town have third and fourth homes. “Financially that’s a burden.”

Antonio Brown reportedly a ‘game-time decision,’ although Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says he’ll play – SB Nation

Antonio Brown hasn’t been on the field since he suffered a calf injury in Week 15, but the hope for the Pittsburgh Steelers was that the wide receiver would be back in time for the postseason.

#Steelers officially list Antonio Brown as questionable for Sunday’s divisional round face-off w/ #Jaguars. But when Mike Tomlin was asked, “Do you expect Antonio Brown to play Sunday,” his answer was: “Yes.”

Per source, Steelers WR Antonio Brown is currently expected to be a game-time decision. Calf injury is still an issue.

Brown was listed as a full participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday, which bodes well for his chances at playing. He was sent home Friday due to an illness, but that shouldn’t factor in to his chances at seeing the field.

That leaves a pair of possibilities:

Naby Keita to Liverpool transfer news: Christian Pulisic, Thomas Lemar, Kevin Strootman – PerthNow

This is despite the club’s public stance that they don’t want to sell their star midfielder earlier than the agreed July transfer.

“That is part of the transfer window so I have nothing to say about it,” he said.

“I thought at this stage, people who follow transfers would be bright enough to understand when they are being led astray,” he said on Sky Sports – the same website who published the initial links.

‘NK8 LIMITED’ has been officially registered on the UK’s Companies House website, with Naby Deco Keita and agent Bjorn Alexander Bezemer listed as the two owners.

“Well, I have heard so many rumours it does not bother me anymore…. I have been treated very well at Liverpool and right now, I belong to Liverpool and I am happy at Anfield,” he was quoted as saying in the Liverpool Echo.

However they will face competition from Manchester United if they make a move in the summer.

Florida likely to ban child marriage – The Northwest Florida Daily News

Florida law requires individuals to be 18 or older to marry, but there are exceptions when someone is pregnant or has parental consent.

“Across the country, and specifically in the state of Florida, we’ve seen marriage license loopholes used and abused to cover up sexual abuse,” Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto, R-Fort Myers, said Thursday before her child marriage bill cleared its final Senate committee by unanimous vote, setting up the legislation for a vote on the Senate floor.

Brightbill said Thursday that the marriage legislation is needed because “child marriage has been shown to harm children’s physical, intellectual and emotional development.”

“Minors cannot enter into contracts because we recognize that youth and maturity mean that children aren’t prepared to sign legally binding contracts,” she added. “Uet under current marriage law children are permitted to enter into life-long marriage contracts.”

Lawmakers are pushing ahead despite lingering concerns voiced by some conservatives that taking away the option of marrying would make young women more likely to seek abortions when they become pregnant.

“So many minors are actually getting into situations they can’t get out of,” said Johnson, adding that her early marriage led to years of abusive relationships.

Marriage at a young age is relatively uncommon in Florida. Pew Research Center estimates that roughly four out of every 1,000 15- to 17-year-olds in Florida were married in 2014.

Johnson’s religious parents forced her to marry her 20-year-old rapist, who attended the same church as the family.

Sources say Eastern Washington AD Bill Chaves a front-runner for North Dakota job – The Spokesman-Review

Chaves has enjoyed success on and off the fields and courts at Eastern. The football program has earned seven playoff berths during a 10-year span from 2007-16, and won the FCS national title in 2010.

Chaves did not respond to messages on Friday, and he was not at Reese Court on Friday night for the Eagles’ basketball doubleheader against Idaho.

Chaves is one of four finalists, all of whom interviewed this week with a 16-member committee and participated in public forums on the Grand Forks, North Dakota, campus.

The odds are good that Eastern Washington University may soon be looking for a new athletic director.

Citing poor weather conditions, the panel canceled a public meeting that was scheduled for Friday morning. Individual committee members have given their recommendations to UND president Mark Kennedy, who is expected to make a final decision in the next few days.

The men’s basketball team has appeared in three consecutive postseason tournaments, including the NCAA Tournament in 2015.

“President Kennedy attended all of the open forums. He also had one-on-one meetings with the Executive Council (which is his advisory council) this week,” UND spokesman Peter Johnson told the Grand Forks Herald on Friday night.

Five EWU coaches have won coach of the year honors in the Big Sky Conference – Miles Kydd (volleyball), Wendy Schuller (women’s basketball), Darren Haworth (tennis), Beau Baldwin (football) and Jim Hayford (men’s basketball). Baldwin also earned national coach of the year accolades after his team’s 2010 national title.
