“Ready to help Ford take our rightful place in the midsize truck segment from a different vantage point,” Raj Nair, Ford President of North America, said during the presentation. He later added that the midsize truck will come with a steel frame, as “real trucks don’t have fascias.”
Before the Ranger was brought onto the stage, Ford had people in attendance pick up a special key fob and vote on what they wanted to happen in the video presentation as it happened.
As for the new F-150, it will come with an optional 3.0-liter diesel Power Stroke engine that will come with an EPA-estimated 30 mpg later this year.
The automaker says the new Ranger will come with the optional FX4 Off-Road package, which has a terrain management system to the F-150 Raptor’s. This means the technology will send power or brakes to each wheel as needed so drivers can keep their eyes on steering while off-road driving.

The Ranger is expected in 2019, and the Bronco in 2020.
The first-ever diesel engine offered for the F-150 comes as a 3.0-liter Powerstroke with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford reports that it is capable of 11,400 pounds of towing, a 2,020 payload, and making 250 horsepower and 440-pounds of torque. Per the estimated EPA fuel economy rating, Ford says the final figures will be released this spring.
The 2018 North American International Auto Show begins with press previews Jan. 14, 15 and 16. Dozens of vehicle unveilings and news conferences are planned. Industry previews are set for Jan. 17 and 18. The show opens to the public Jan. 20 and runs through Jan. 28. More than 300 exhibitors are expected to fill the Cobo Center for the massive annual auto industry showcase.
Ford also had its newly-announced diesel option for the F-150, its new Edge ST SUV and the revived 2019 Mustang Bullitt edition on display during the press conference at the Cobo Center in Downtown Detroit.

United have edged ahead of rivals Manchester City in the bidding for Sanchez, being prepared to match Arsenal’s £35million valuation this month, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan possibly going the other way as part of the deal.
Sanchez has turned out in the Europa League for Arsenal, netting the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Koln back in September.
But Article 44 states changes can be made if newly registered players meet certain requirements before the knockout stages.
Wenger, who insisted that he would be given the cash to replace Sanchez in this transfer window, said: “Alexis did not refuse to play. He would have played but it’s a difficult period for him.
“I have been assured that Alexis will be replaced but there’s nothing concrete there yet.”
Crucially, only players who haven’t played in the Champions League for another club in the same season can be registered.
“It was difficult for him because he was on stand-by. That’s why I decided not play him.

“I’ve been here for so long,” said the woman, who declined to share her name with The Baltimore Sun. “I thought you couldn’t leave.”
“Nada es cierto,” she told them in Spanish — nothing is certain.
She was relieved when Benno said that was indeed allowed.
He was eager to learn more about the policy changes nonetheless — because now, he has friends.
Even as it appears that many could be forced out of the country, Heather Benno, the center’s managing attorney, told the group of Salvadorans, Nicaraguans and Hondurans that they should wait, stay apprised of any new developments and stay in touch with the center’s lawyers.
For one attendee, a 27-year-old Randallstown resident who arrived in the country from El Salvador 18 years ago, that was troubling news. She came hoping to learn whether she would still be able to enter the U.S. if she goes back to El Salvador — a trip she has to make to start the process of gaining legal permanent residency through her employer, a physical therapy practice.
The government has also said it will end protected status for Nicaraguans in 2019, and is considering whether to force Hondurans to return to their home country, as well.
The Esperanza Center, a program of Catholic Charities of Baltimore that provides free legal services and health care to immigrants, launched the first of a series of informational sessions at St. Patrick’s on Sunday about the complicated and fast-changing bureaucracy of the U.S. Customs and Immigration Service.
