‘G’day, losers’: First look at mysterious Crocodile Dundee revival project revealed – NEWS.com.au

Talking about the franchise and the upcoming project, Paul Hogan told People the films were a “defining moment” in his life and one of his “proudest accomplishments”.

“G’day, losers,” he says in an American accent.

He goes on to recreate one of the original film’s iconic lines. “That’s not a knife — that’s a knife,” he says.

“Throughout the past few years, I’ve been thinking about how to bring Dundee to a new generation,” he told the publication. “I’m excited to introduce the new Crocodile Dundee to the world and look forward to sharing more news about those involved very soon.”

The reboot was confirmed overnight with the release of a surprise promotional video for the project called Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home. The franchise’s original star Hogan confirmed the project to People, saying it would hit screens by midyear.

The brainchild of star Hogan and producer John Cornell, the $8.6 million film went on to become one of the most successful in Australian history, finishing second only to Top Gun at the US box office that year.

People reports Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home will hit screens my midyear.

While the clip doesn’t give too much away about the upcoming film, it does show US comedian Danny McBride starring as Mick Dundee’s son. In the preview, McBride — dressed in a leather vest and cowboy hat — stands on a clifftop before turning to the camera.

West Virginia vs. Texas odds: Picks from expert on 18-5 college basketball run – CBSSports.com

Now, Cimini has studied every angle of this Big 12 hoops showdown and has locked in a strong point-spread pick. He’s sharing it only over at SportsLine.

West Virginia will be looking to get back on track through Senior point guard Jevon Carter and an efficient offense. WVU has scored 70 or more points in six of its last eight games and has the 10th best scoring margin in the nation.

And Texas has won its past two games against ranked opponents, including a nine-point victory over in-state rival Texas Tech on Wednesday.

West Virginia is 4-2 against the spread in its last six games, while Texas is just 4-16 ATS in its last 20 games on the road.

Cimini is one of the fastest-rising Vegas-based handicappers and has been crushing his recent college basketball picks.

Cimini knows that the Mountaineers are 15-3 overall but have lost two straight, including a devastating loss at home against Kansas earlier this week.

If General Electric Breaks Up, Should You Break Up With GE Stock? – Investor’s Business Daily

IBD’S TAKE: Investing for income alone can be risky if you chase stocks just because of their high dividend yields. Learn how to buy the best dividend stocks that combine yields with earnings growth and a solid share price trend.

The breakup question comes as investors look for some upside to the beleaguered GE share price, which is back at six-year lows. The company’s status as an income stock play, a key reason to hold GE stock, was severely damaged after it halved its quarterly dividend to 12 cents a share in November. (The falling stock price, though, raises GE’s dividend yield.)

How Did This Biotech Become A Dividend Leader?

“We are looking aggressively at the best structure or structures for our portfolio to maximize the potential of our businesses,” Flannery said on a conference call. A review “could result in many, many different permutations, including separately traded assets really in any one of our units, if that’s what made sense.”

News of a potential breakup follows a disastrous 2017 for GE stock, which tanked 45%  while the Dow Jones industrial average soared 25% and fellow Dow industrials 3M (MMM) and United Technologies (UTX) jumped a respective 32% and 16%. Other industrial conglomerates like Siemens (SIEGY) and Honeywell (HON), which also have also taken steps to slim down recently, saw hefty 2017 gains too.

Yet the plan pleased almost no one, neither analysts seeking a radical restructuring of its vast asset portfolio nor investors looking for a clear path back to growth. It also left lingering concerns over the flagship power segment, which sells gas turbines and other utility equipment, where plunging profits led to 12,000 GE job cuts in December. Analysts caution that the power market is in the early stages of an extended downturn.

But you can’t blame GE for not trying. The company is vastly different from what it was a decade ago. It has shed its stake in NBC Universal and most of one-time profit driver GE Capital, as well as its iconic lighting and appliance businesses. Former CEO Jeff Immelt sought to refocus GE on its industrial core and rebrand it as a “digital industrial” company, touting its efforts in software and the cloud.

“When you build a conglomerate, you build it for a reason,” he told IBD. “To break (conglomerates) up just because shareholders don’t like the direction of the stock, that’s no way to run a business.”

Wilson N. Jones creating temporary flu treatment clinic in ER – KXII-TV

“So that they are quickly assessed, quickly triaged and then able to get back home where they are more comfortable,” Price said.

They will be doing all flu-related tests and treatment.

To also help decrease the wait time in the ER, the Texas Hospital Association is encouraging patients with minor, flu-like symptoms to consult their doctors before coming in.

WNJ Chief Nursing Officer Tonya Price said she’s done this at other facilities before.

“Tylenol, the swab for flu or strep throat,” Tonya Price said.

If you need to come get checked out or tested for the flu but don’t want to wait in the emergency room, you can schedule an appointment with WNJ by clicking on the related link.

For the last two days, Wilson N. Jones staff said the wait time at the emergency room has been anywhere from four to eight hours.

Wireless Charging Patent Landscape – satPRnews (press release)

Useful Patent Database

The new Consumer Market Report has been published today. It provides updated in 2018 year analysis of Consumer Goods and Services Industries.

The report also includes an Excel database containing the patent families analyzed in the study for the top 20 key IP players. Compare Key Players’ IP and Market Positions

From cell phones to electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, the power to charge batteries now lies in the air. Recently Apple decided to implement this technology with its iPhone 8 and X, highlighting that wireless charging can now reach the high volume consumer market with good performances that fulfil the regulations. Several technologies have been developed within the last two centuries: inductive coupling, magnetic resonant coupling, capacitive coupling, power transfer by ultrasound, RF/microwaves and laser. Currently, inductive coupling is mainly used in consumer applications (Samsung GS7 and GS8, iPhone 8) while magnetic resonant coupling is the preferred technology for charging electric vehicles. According to Transparency Market Research (Wireless Power Transmission Market – Global industry analysis, size, share, growth, trends and forecast 2017-2025), the global market for wireless power transmission was valued at $3.6 billion in 2016 and is estimated to reach $17.15 billion by 2025, driven by the increasing demand for electrical vehicle and consumer applications.

Lawyer says cop is a hero for trying to save elderly woman – New York Post

As his fellow cops tried to carry him down to safety, Brovakos insisted on returning to rescue the old woman, the lawyer insisted.

Just short of the stairwell, Brovakos collapsed, Quinn said.

Quinn countered Friday that Brovakos was only doing his job when a fire broke out one floor below her apartment.

Quinn said Brovakos told him that when they entered Davis’ door, smoke was filling the apartment. Brovakos radioed for backup.

“There were firefighters there but they weren’t on the 12th floor knocking on doors. That was the cops.”

A police union lawyer claimed on Friday that a sergeant was a “hero” for trying to save an elderly Queens granny from a burning building — and disputed family claims that he’d forced her out of her safe apartment and abandoned her in a smoke-filled hallway to die.

Jack Wilshere backed for England return by Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson – SkySports

Hodgson said: “I’d like to see him available for selection (for England). Gareth (Southgate) will make that decision but I think it would be nice if he had that option at least of a Jack Wilshere playing in the form he’s playing in at the moment and the form I’ve always known he’s had.

“I see no reason why the injuries should continue to prevent him. I hope it doesn’t happen for his sake, for England’s sake because he really is an outstanding talent.”

“The last couple of games I’ve seen him play for Arsenal he’s reached a very high level.

Last Updated: 19/01/18 11:22pm

Wilshere has not played for England since their 2-1 defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016 – when Hodgson was manager – but the 70-year-old thinks he deserves a recall.

However, while admitting he was an admirer of the 26-year-old, Hodgson ruled out any prospect of signing him for Crystal Palace.
