MILTON, Fla. (AP) — A Florida daycare owner was sentenced to existence imprisonment after being charged of murder within the dying of the toddler in 2014.

Lowery was taking care of 15-month-old Brodie Kent at her home daycare as he was rushed to some hospital. He died days later.

The Pensacola News Journal reports that Santa Rosa County Judge Kelvin Wells sentenced 58-year-old Thelma Lowery soon after a jury arrived at a guilty verdict Friday.

Doctors testified that Brodie’s brain swelling along with other injuries might have been caused only by “non-accidental trauma.”

During her five-day trial, Lowery stated another child hit Brodie. She stated she found him covered in vomit and known as an ambulance as he beginning getting seizures.

Lowery’s attorneys contended Brodie might have had an undiagnosed condition with no one what food was in fault in the dying.
