LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. —
The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office held a gathering from the minds Tuesday in the Laurens County courthouse. Pastors and parishioners from over the Upstate brainstormed methods for securing and protecting local places of worship.
Police force advised individuals to make security a high priority in church. Some pastors spoken about assigning ushers to patrol areas of their campus. Others designated others within their church to continually carry firearms. Another pastor shared his evacuation plans using the audience.
Laurens County police force is addressing exactly what the sheriff known as a massive reaction to the Texas Church shooting.
The discussion comes greater than a week after Devin Kelley gunned lower 26 people initially Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Kelley includes a documented good reputation for domestic violence and mental health problems. Police force in Laurens County cautioned church leaders to look for individuals who may exhibit similar habits within their places of worship.
“They see less threat,” Laurens County Sheriff Don Reynolds stated about church shooters. “To victimize places of worship, as they say, with individuals worshipping their God, that’s people in a disadvantage. People like that victimize the things they think about a weak moment.”
“It might happen anywhere,” Selected Generation Ministries pastor Gwen Kinard told WYFF News 4. “I think the primary factor is attempting to become positive and never hold back until there exists a situation to try and decide how to proceed.
