An attorney for former Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard states prosecutors are trying to find a “unbelievably extreme” prison sentence after his conviction on ethics charges.
Defense lawyer Bill Baxley stated Friday the 18-year sentence prosecutors want is absurd. The lawyer general’s office, inside a court filing now, stated they need Hubbard to invest 5 years imprisonment and the other 13 on supervised probation.
Prosecutors will also be requesting Hubbard to pay for $1.six million in fines and restitution.
