“We are not considered a bar. If we are permitting under 18-year-olds to become here, plus they purchase a drink, we are liable,” stated Agostino.

Many bars and restaurants, including Sole, in downtown Augusta will not have the brand new law. That is because what the law states defines a bar being an establishment by which alcohol comprises 75 % of the total sales. That does not mean local restaurants not understood to be a “bar” are totally free.
The brand new law is known as Michael’s law. It’s named following a former Georgia Southern College student, Michael Gatto, was beaten to dying in a Statesboro bar.
As downtown Augusta keeps growing, Michaels law may affect local bars at some point.
