What is even odder is that while the 1998 amendment gave only general direction of funding conservation land acquisition, the 2014 amendment was very specific.

This year the Legislature, which convened last week, has proposed spending no more than $100 million a year for Florida Forever. DEP officials have proposed only $50 million.
This is especially a big deal for us, because some of the highest priority unfunded Florida Forever projects are in or adjacent to Polk County. Extra funding could also provide matching funds for buying inholdings in the Polk County Environmental Lands’ Crooked Lake West proposed preserve.
