SWIMMERS in South Gloucestershire are being asked to take to the pool this spring to support a new campaign led by a diabetes charity.
To sign up, visit diabetes.org.uk/swim22. There is no registration fee and no minimum sponsorship.
Diabetes UK is looking for people for the Swim22 challenge, encouraging them to swim 22 miles – the distance of the English Channel – and raise sponsorship between 22 February and 22 May.
A spokesman for the charity said that by taking part, people would be “making a difference with each and every splash”.
“You can take on the swim challenge alone or, better still, get your family, friends and colleagues involved. You can even split the distance between a team to make it easier for everyone.
Every day, around 700 people are diagnosed with diabetes, which, if not well managed, is associated with heart disease, strokes, blindness and amputations.
