Romero, a top contender for the UFC middleweight championship, will instead face Luke Rockhold for the interim title at UFC 221 in Australia after it was announced Saturday that current champ Robert Whittaker had been injured.
Yoel Romero has been pulled from his planned match against David Branch at UFC Fight Night in Orlando.
Branch, a former World Series of Fighting champion, posted his reaction on Instagram: “Damn. I wish Yoel and Lucas [Rockhold] the best. Speedy recovery champ.”

A replacement fight for Orlando has not been announced. A main event for the show is also yet to be determined, but Romero vs. Branch was the contest featured in advertising for the show when tickets went on sale Friday.
UFC Fight Night in Orlando is scheduled for Feb. 24, with the first fights at 3:30 p.m. and the main events on the Fox network (WOFL-35 locally) beginning at 8 p.m.
