90-minute earthquake on Mars

The US space agency (NASA) revealed that a group of earthquakes on Mars exceeded 4 degrees on the Richter scale.

According to the American “Business Insider” website, the agency confirmed one of the earthquakes, which its “InSight” vehicle recently detected, was interesting, as it lasted more than 90 minutes.

The US agency explained that in addition to being very long, the exciting earthquake also produced 5 times more energy than any previously detected earthquake, noting that this great event has been awaited by scientists since the landing of InSight on Mars in late 2018.

“Looking at the core and crust of Mars, and considering that they haven’t changed much in the past 4.5 billion years, we can also get a glimpse of what it looked like,” Bruce Banerdt, the rover’s principal investigator for the rover mission, told Business Insider. planet earth ever since.
“Mars helps us understand how rocky planets form and how they generally evolve,” Banerdt added.

And last month, the spacecraft recorded two more earthquakes, as the probe recorded on August 25, two earthquakes of 4.2 and 4.1 degrees, and before these earthquakes, the largest earthquake recorded by NASA was a 3.7 earthquake in the year 2019.

InSight is a robotic lander designed by NASA to study the depths of Mars using seismic investigations, heat transport and geodesy (the science of accurately measuring and understanding the geometry of the Earth, its orientation in space, and its gravitational field).
