KBO League to increase the number of spectators from July… Spectators allowed up to 50% in the metropolitan area

The number of spectators for the 2021 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League will increase to 50% in the metropolitan area and 70% in the non-metropolitan area starting on July 1st.

The KBO (Governor Jeong Ji-taek) secretariat announced on the 28th that the number of visitors to the baseball field will be expanded from July 1 in accordance with the government’s reorganization of social distancing.

Spectators can enter up to 70% of the capacity in the first stage area, 50% in the second stage, and 30% in the third stage. Stage 4 matches are played without spectators. However, the Gocheok Sky Dome, the only domed stadium in Korea, allows spectators to enter up to 60% of the 1st stage, 40% of the 2nd stage, and 20% of the 3rd stage.

The spectator ratio for each stadium is applied according to the regional distancing steps announced by the quarantine authorities. The regional distancing phase announced on the 27th will start on July 1 with the second phase in the metropolitan area and the first phase in the non-metropolitan area.

Currently, the KBO League’s spectator admission rate is 50% in the 1.5-stage area and 30% in the second stage.

The KBO Secretariat said, “As the audience admission rate expands, we will focus on thorough quarantine management, such as observing social distancing and deploying guidance and safety personnel, so that spectators can watch the KBO League comfortably and safely.

He added, “The KBO League plans to repay the audience with more interesting games to support and recharge the vitality of the people who are complaining of a lot of fatigue due to the prolonged Corona 19 virus infection.”
