JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PT Mitsubishi Motos Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) plans to enliven the market sport utility vehicle (SUV) affordable compact in the country.

“It’s true, we are discussing the possibility of developing a compact crossover because the market will be very large and competitive,” said Director of Sales and Marketing Division of PT MMKSI Tetsuhiro Tsuchida in a virtual discussion, Friday (11/12/2021).

He said the development process required serious stages. One of them is to conduct a direct survey of what types of compact SUV cars are needed by the community.
So, the manufacturer will not just make a new car that the market is not interested in as before in the Outlander Sport.

“There needs to be the right product and in accordance with consumer demand, as we did with the Mitsubishi Xpander,” he said.
Tetsuhiro Tsuchida also denied the possibility of resurrecting the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport to fill that segment. He said that currently for the Indonesian market, the fate of the Outlander Sport is over.

According to him, the product has been replaced with the Eclipse Cross as a medium SUV that is sophisticated and competitive in terms of price.
It is known that players in the compact SUV segment in Indonesia are starting to get busy again. At least, there are five competing products, namely Toyota Raize, Daihatsu Rocky, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Kia Sonet.
