Jeddah: Saudi Arabia has launched a three-month iqama renewal service. In collaboration with the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SADAYA), the Passport Directorate and the Ministry of Human Resources have launched a quarterly renewal service for foreigners (Iqama). Last January, the Saudi cabinet approved the renewal of Iqamah on a quarterly basis for foreigners. The new service was launched based on this decision.
But the new decision will not include domestic workers, including house drivers. With the new system, the employer can renew the residence and work permits of his subordinates for three months, six months, nine months and one year as before, as per the requirements of the institution.
The system aims to facilitate the operations of private sector companies, enable management to spend money more efficiently, and enable companies to renew workers’ permits as required. In addition, the decision is aimed at supporting the growth of private sector enterprises, contributing to the development of the labor market and improving the work environment.
This will strengthen the existing contractual relationship and keep pace with the global labor market. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has stated that the new service will be available through the Abshir and Muqeem platforms, through the ‘Directorate of Passport’s, the’ Quiva ‘platform associated with work permits and the Labor Service Portal.
Ahmed Al-Rajihi, Minister of Human Resource and Social Development, Engineer, said that the quarterly renewal of residence and work permits would have a positive impact on the private sector and make operations more efficient and streamlined.
