A mysterious journey is waiting in Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream – Sophie Neuenmuller embarks on a new adventure when Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream will be released on February 25, 2022 for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4!
KOEI TECMO Europe and developer GUST Studios announce the new chapter in the heartwarming Atelier series: Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream. The new atelier follows the popular alchemist Sophie Neuenmuller, who embarks on a new adventure shortly after the events of Atelier Sophie.
Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream continues to follow the adventures of Sophie and Plachta. After leaving Sophie’s hometown Kirchen-Bell, the two discover a huge tree that Plachta had previously seen in a dream. As they approach him, they are drawn into a mysterious vortex. Sophie wakes up alone in a strange new world – the earth-cradle – and it doesn’t take long for Sophie to find out about an alchemist named Plachta, who lives on the outskirts of the city. To her astonishment, however, it is not her friend, but a girl who only bears the same name. What other surprises can Sophie expect on this trip? In the course of the adventure she meets the aspiring alchemist Ramizel Erlenmeyer, who agrees to help her in her need. The story unfolds elegantly with a charming new visual style that draws on the art of the Mysterious sub-series with the high quality graphics and animation Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy connects.
In search of her missing friend, Sophie has to face many monsters that haunt the world. As soon as players meet an opponent, the fight begins immediately with no loading times – a novelty in the series. The fights are seamless from now on. In addition, combat groups now consist of six members, three in the front row and three behind. This creates two teams that work together in turn-based battles. The new system opens up a wide range of exciting strategies for players to use to face their enemies.
As in the previous parts of the studio, alchemy also plays a role in Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream again a big role. The game builds on the panel synthesis system of the Mysterious sub-series, in which materials are placed in the panel slots to create new items. The game allows both aspiring and seasoned alchemists to synthesize items in a way that is convenient for them. Two different panel types facilitate the manufacturing process. RestrictedPanels are difficult to master, but allow the creation of items with stronger effects.
