Superfood duel: chia vs. flax

Both chia and flax seeds are ancient crops, they are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, polysaccharides and fiber. The biggest difference between the two is clearly the price. Chia seeds are roughly two to three times more expensive than flax seeds. The health benefits themselves do not make the Central American seeds really superior, even if they contain more antioxidants, but flax seeds have a little more omega-3 fatty acids. Both seeds contain abundant swelling substances which, in combination with water, greatly increase their volume. On the one hand, this stimulates digestion (so never consume the seeds without liquid, otherwise this would have the opposite effect!), On the other hand, the swelling in the stomach leads to a long-lasting feeling of satiety, which in turn can help with weight loss.
