Now that the infections in Europe are rising again, Sweden is also going to introduce a corona pass. It is intended for indoor events of more than a hundred people. The government announced on Wednesday that visitors must demonstrate that they have been vaccinated against Covid-19 from December 1. That measure was recommended by health experts. Parliament still has to agree to it.
At the beginning of this month, Sweden decided to abolish the mandatory testing of fully vaccinated people with symptoms of the disease. That has now, after much criticism, been reversed.
Although relatively few new corona infections are currently being registered, Health Minister Lena Hallengren is anticipating a new wave in December. “The spread of the virus is increasing in Europe. We have not yet found that here, but Sweden is not isolated. That is why we must be able to use vaccination certificates,” she said at a press conference.
