The Clarkics The Quarrymen will perform at the Beatles Weekend de l'Estartit festival

The fourteenth edition of the Beatles Weekend de l'Estartit festival will be held from today and until Sunday and will feature the main components of the legendary group The Quarrymen, founded by John Lennon in 1956.

The group will perform this Saturday at Plaça del Molinet. The Quarrymen will accompany the Here Comes of Song, a set of tribute to George Harrison, and the Hey Bulldogs from Barcelona.

During the whole week different activities related to the Beatles will be held in L'Estartit, such as exhibitions, film and documentary projections, book presentations and talks.

Among the exhibitions is a selection of promotional photographs of the Beatles press distributed by agencies around the world and that are part of the collection of Jordi Tardà.

Lennon created his first musical group in 1956 with colleagues from the Quarry Bank school. As the event recalled, it was during a group performance on July 6, 1957 when Lennon and Paul McCartney met and began a friendship that would bring Paul to join the group that would eventually evolve into The Beatles

In 1997, members of the group, 17 years after Lennon's death, rejoined to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the famous St. Louis concert. Peter's Church. Since then they have performed all over the world with their music that blends jazz, blues and folk and rock and roll. They have released two albums: Get Back Together (1997) i Songs We Remember (2004).

The members of the Quarrymen (Rod Davis, Colin Hanton, Len Garry and Chas Newby) will also participate in a meeting in which they will respond to the questions of the fans and will make a session of signatures and autographs.

Apart from The Quarrymen, the main concert of the festival on Saturday will include the presence of the group from Barcelona Hey Bulldogs and the tribute band to George Harrison Here Comes The Song, led by the musician Àlex Rexach and trained with musicians from the Glaucs group (Jofre Bardagí, Àngel Valentí and Rexach himself).

Previously, the Hey Bulldogs group will remember the 50th anniversary of the last Beatles concert on the roof of the Apple Records headquarters, playing the same concert performed by the Beatles on January 30, 1969.
