The new Ford Ranger also arrives in the Raptor version, its sound sounds very interesting

There was no mention of the Raptor in the official materials, but Ford cleverly hid the information in the online premiere.

Today’s unveiling of the fourth-generation Ford Ranger has so far saved technical specifications, which is not so surprising given the planned launch in 2023. However, we were a little surprised that there was no mention of the Raptor model in the official materials, which is finally an integral part of the European offer.

However, the Blue Oval still counts on the Raptor, which he discreetly announced only during his online live broadcast. During it, he published a QR code, which, after scanning, led viewers to a hidden page of the Australian Ford office, which was tasked with developing the new Ranger.

There is only one video on the page, which does not show that much – only the date 02.2022. However, a very interesting engine sound is heard against it, which clearly confirms that the premiere of the sharp Ranger Raptor will take place in February next year. And obviously we have something to look forward to.

The sound of the engine did not match the sound of the twice-supercharged diesel fitted to the current Ranger Raptor, nor the sound of the 2.3-liter petrol four-cylinder fitted to the American Ford Ranger. The unit sounded more like a supercharged V6 petrol engine, which has not yet been mentioned in official Ford materials.

For now, we know that the new generation Ranger will be equipped with two versions of the two-liter diesel, while one will offer double supercharging, which will complement the top 3.0-liter diesel six-cylinder fork. As an alternative, the Americans could get a 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost petrol.

However, if the impressions of the revealed sound were confirmed and the new Ranger Raptor was actually equipped with a six-cylinder petrol fork, then according to foreign colleagues it could be either a 2.7-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost from the new Bronco model or a 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost. from Ford Explorer ST.

The power unit from the Ford Bronco could offer the highest output of around 330 hp and up to 560 Nm, while the larger six-cylinder from the Explorer ST could shift the output to 400 hp and 560 Nm. That is, depending on the fuel used and, of course, the tuning for the needs of pick-up users.

It is too early to speculate whether the Ranger Raptor petrol will also reach Europe or whether we will get a diesel or plug-in hybrid dinosaur. However, the press release already indicated that the redesigned bow would allow the installation of new propulsion units. The plug-in hybrid drive of the new Ranger was talked about long in advance. But now we can only wait for what Ford will serve us in February.
