And what of its wallsonly 16% of its collection hangsof paintings. The Prado Museum has much higher funds than it can show due to lack of space. It has 7,988 cataloged paintings, exhibited only 1,290, the rest are in deposit (in other entities), stored or in temporary exhibition.
The Prado Museum presented an exhibition on Monday"unique and unrepeatable"which brings together more than 300 drawings ofGoyafrom the collections of the gallery and other public and private from around the world. This exhibition, which opens the day on which the Prado turns 200 this Tuesday, November 19, allows a chronological tour of the life of this artist.
The sample will be distributed in two rooms. In the first one you can see the beginnings of Goya (1771-1778), his first drawings for engravings, his strokes in letters to Martín Zapater or the one known as Cuaderno de Sanlúcar, the first of the eight notebooks of drawings signed by the painter.
