Porsche has brought the most radical version of the 718 Cayman to the Los Angeles Motor Show.
It is nicknamed GT4 RS and you may have heard of it. The manufacturer drew attention to this version in October, when it announced that Jörg Bergmeister had driven a shorter part of the Nürburgring circuit, measuring 20.6 kilometers, in the time of 7: 04.511. This is an incredible 23.6 seconds better than the standard version of the Cayman GT4.
However, Porsche has only announced the complete specifications shortly before the premiere at the Los Angeles Motor Show.
Certainly the most important novelty of the GT4 RS is the 4-liter flat six-cylinder, taken directly from the Porsche 911 GT3. The atmospherically charged engine is tuned to a maximum output of 368 kW and the highest torque at 450 Nm A limiter reaches up to 9000 rpm.
The six-cylinder is combined with a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission and drives the rear wheels. Acceleration from rest to a hundred takes only 3.4 seconds, the maximum speed is 315 km / h.
But Porsche also focused on other important things, such as weight. Thanks to many parts made of light materials, the two-seater coupe weighs a decent 1,415 kilograms. The front hood is made of carbon fiber, in the cabin we find lighter rugs, textile loops in the doors instead of traditional handles and the car manufacturer also provided less insulation material. The rear window is made of lighter glass.
The Cayman GT4 RS also received a specifically tuned chassis. Compared to the classic Cayman, the GT4 RS has a height of 30 millimeters, the adjustable chassis is stiffer thanks to modified shock absorbers, springs and stabilizers. The car stands on 20-inch forged aluminum wheels.
And of course, aerodynamics were also considered, so the car boasts a large rear wing and a number of other features that improve downforce.
Porsche is already accepting orders for the GT4 RS, deliveries of finished machines will begin in December. In Germany, the price starts at 141,338 euros, which is about 3.56 million crowns. And if you want even more, you can check out the optional Weissach package in the price list, which will add carbon elements, magnesium wheels and even better aerodynamics.
